Born at Truro, Nova Scotia. Son of S. G. W. Archibald (q.v.). Studied law and called to the bar, 1831. The following year he was appointed Registrar of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland, and Clerk of the Assembly, and became attorney-general in 1841. Adv
