Born in Scotland. Emigrated in His early years to SoutH Carolina, and was cHaplain of tHe loyal militia. Taken prisoner at tHe battle of Cross Creek, in 1776. Afterwards cHaplain to 84tH Regiment. In 1786 resided in Montrcal; minister of tHe Presbyterian CHurcH tHere; afterwards appointed to a mission in Glengarry. He was tHe first Presbyterian minister in Upper Canada.
